Week #12 weigh in

12 Week weigh in ......(real one this time).......62 lbs gone forever! Reply
19 Replies Posted by: SonoTok on 02/26/05 at 12:15 PM

Hello!

I mistakenly posted last week about my 12 week weigh-in, but it was only my 11th week! Since so many things are measured in 4 week increments, I usually only like to post my weigh-in every 4 weeks, so I figured I better post correctly this week. lol

Although last week I had my first gain, which I wanted to post about anyway. Last week I showed a 3 pound gain, which I figured was due to being sick, lack of sleep, hectic schedule. As it turns out, I'm sure a lot of that gain last week was water retention.

I am happy to report that I lost 8 pounds this week, the 3 I had gained plus 5 more, for a total of 62 pounds in 12 weeks! What a very pleasant surprise! My actual weighloss chart can be found on my profile page. For some reason I am having trouble putting it in this post.

I want to thank everyone that has offered their support and encouragement to me on my incredibly exciting journey. I honestly believe that the support and inspiration that I find here on the boards is the key to making this new lifestyle part of my life.

For those that have asked for updated pics, I plan on posting new pics after I have joined ProudUncle in Two-derville, so another 24 pounds to go!

Have a GREAT weekend!

Craig

Great job, Craig, I know you have been really busy so I am really impressed that you lost 8 pounds! My weight bounces around quite a bit too, especially this past week when I fell hard off the wagon and had Mcdonald food - major water weight gain the next morning!

Good luck on your continued weight loss - you rock!

Awesome job Craig!!! I know that 3 pound gain at last week's weigh-in was a disappointment, but you handled it beautifully. You sure made up for it this week. Way to go!! Can't wait to see the new pics when you reach Twoderville!!

Week #11 weigh in - My first weight Gain

11 Week Weigh In- ******** My very first GAIN Reply
17 Replies Posted by: SonoTok on 02/18/05 at 11:34 AM
Hi there!

I'm happy (not) to report that I have gained 3 pounds from last week's weighin. I know there were some extenuating circumstances, such as my UK friends visit, not getting enough sleep, having a hectic pace these last few days, and not working out. I actually think I have come down with a bug or something, and since I've had a bunch of things scheduled that needed to get done, I've been unable to rest much this week. I also had some surprising shifts with certain members of my immediate family, all at the same time, which in the past was always a trigger for binging and emotional eating. This time I was very happy to see that I never felt any desire to binge or go off NS, but it has still been a bit unsettling.

But I'm not going to blame anything or anyone. I gained my weight over many years, and I know that it will take time to make up for the abuse I put my body through. This is a lifestyle change for me, and I take full responsibility for any choices I make on a daily or weekly basis, and I am willing to accept the consequences. I knew the day would come when I showed no gain, or an increase, although I just expected it to be a little ways off still.

Now that I've gotten "my first gain" out of the way, I'm going to look at this in a positive way:

I can now relate to the disappointment that many have felt when they've seen a gain. I can relate to re-weighing myself quite a few times just to make sure I was reading it right, or wondering if something was wrong with the scale. LOL I now understand a bit better how one feels when they've stuck to NS fairly accurately and have not received any visible results for the week. I will now be in a better position to relate and offer comfort and support to those who experience a gain. And since its easy to post about losses, I get the opportunity today to step out of my comfort zone and post about a gain.

Thank you all for being so supportive and encouraging. I am still amazed by how wonderful these boards are, and I only wish that I could spend as much time posting as I did the first few weeks I was here.

Happy eating and losing!

Craig

I like very much the way you are looking at this experience as part of the process of a total change in attitude, life style choice. That bodes very well for keeping it off for real, for ever. Good for you. Sorry you are having a week that would typically tripper emotional eating. But, good for your for not falling into old behavior patterns. Not even that old yet really! You are just rockin' on this program : )
Be well,
Lisa

Wish I could make it to the 11th weigh-in before I gain--I'm afraid tomorrow, my 3rd, is going to be my downfall. I sure do have confidence in you to pick it right back up. I know you will.

Yes, you are learning and looking at this as a long term way of life..everyone will slip, it is the ones whom have decided to get up and learn and move on that changes their lives. It is a marathon, a journey, not a sprint that will save us. As you stated so well.. these our are choices and as long as we take responsibility for our actions without beating ourselves up over them we will then change our lives. Keep learning and pushing on. Thanks for the post. Patty

I am more convinced every day that getting the proper amount of sleep goes a long way in aiding weight loss. Since starting NS I have tried to be in bed every night by 10 and I really think it makes a difference. I have friends who also battle with their weight and seem to have that "belly fat" issue and without exception they are people who rarely if ever maintain a normal sleep schedule much less get 8 hours of sleep. Aside from eating the NS food and the healthy additions this has been my main focus since starting...drink water and get 8 hours of sleep. Amazing how much better I feel!

You amaze me :-) You've gained and are disappointed, but instead of letting it drag you down you see it as a positive thing - that now you can relate to others who experience the same thing.

That's awesome! Keep up the good work, you'll see better results next week.

Hi Craig, I didn't gain weight this past week (week 5) but I also didn't lose anything, and I appreciate your courage is just laying it out there for us because I didn't post anything at all! I went off plan quite a bit this week, and although I didn't binge on anything I certainly could have stuck with the plan better so it's my own fault. Good luck this week-
